If Bloggers Are Tomatoes Then You Be A Banana

If Bloggers Are Tomatoes Then You Be A Banana

If you want to stand out in the world of blogging then you can’t be afraid to take an unusual stand. Be the blogger who leads not the one who follows.

I may have shared this with you before I”m not sure.  When you begin to write post after post you wonder  “Did I tell my readers this?”  I will pretend I did not.  As long as I could remember I had to do things differently.  I don’t know what makes me that way or even why, I just know that I can’t stand to follow a pack. I do follow ONE man. That is not what I’m talking about here.

When I would come home from performing the Vegas airport  was always packed. We would approach the tram,  and soon enough everyone  would collect and hang out in the middle. I went past everyone of them and towards the front where no one was standing.  When we got off the tram they all moved like trout swimming up river, crowded and in the same direction. When they got to the escalator even though there were two, the crowd took the right one while the one on the left was a ghost escalator, except for  one lone rider, me of course.

I feel the same with blogging.  We all talk about “our space”, “our place”, and how we built a blog to share our lives, dreams, business or “C” all of the above.  If that is true why do so many of us copy EXACTLY what other bloggers do?  How is it that a boot camp is held and they come up with one collective idea and then on every blog everywhere you go is a Wordless Thursday.  I know I know that’s not what it’s called but if I had one that’s what I would name it. Why? Because I start to twitch when I think I”m doing exactly what everyone else is doing. OK if you have that don’t get mad at me there is nothing wrong with it I”m only saying we can all stand a little change once in a while.

Don’t get me wrong some things are good and worthy to be repeated. Commenting on blogs, visiting forums etc;  I really feel that the time has come for us as bloggers to no longer follow but blaze a trail. A trail that’s so hot that even if someone tried to follow their feet would catch fire and they’d have to hop off and create their own path.

You see for me I have always been driven to be different so it’s not an issue.  But I am encouraging you today.  What new blog idea can you come up with?  What new marketing idea can you create for mom bloggers to get together?  How can you make your blog unique in every way?  If all people ever do is follow others and copy them, then  the world will be robbed of your super coolness”- This is  a line from GET FAMOUS.

It’s really the truth. So here are some tips to help you stand out. When you notice every blogger being a tomato you decide to be the banana.

  • Brainstorm for 10 minutes and think of fun & ways to bring mom bloggers together.
  • Do not pattern your blog after someone else. Make yours fresh and new and one that reflects your style and no one else.
  • Do something totally unexpected on your blog to shake things up a bit.
  • Think of new ways to run a contest and a unique prize like none have ever seen.
  • Reach deep and use the creative powers inside you to be unique, amazing & refreshing.

If every blogger would do this, the blogosphere would be filled with amazing and refreshing content and ideas.  So go out there today and be a banana.  Who’s with me do I have a bunch of fruits on my hands?
