Top Six Tips On How To Substantially Increase Your Alexa Ranking

Top Six Tips On How To Substantially Increase Your Alexa Ranking

After reading this post go to the bottom and check your rank with this cool tool-

Today I was talking to my bloggy friend Michelle from Powered By Mom via email and we were talking about Alexa Rank. I realized my rank jumped by over one million points. I almost couldn’t believe my eyes.  So she asked what I had done to substantially increase my alexa rank  I shared some things with her. Now I”m realizing I’d like to share a few more and with all of you.

And on another note I created this article title because my daughter Matilda has decided to throw her temper my way and if I tell her not to do something she grunts at me and turns red.  I’m thinking I maybe should have considered the meaning of her name ( battle maiden in some languages) throughly before I chose it. Funny but not really.

I’ll have to figure out my blogging schedule as she is awake more hours every day. It’s 12 am Vegas time and I”m typing.

I”m not a huge rank feign. I don’t look at numbers that much.  I just care if what I write is helping my readers, if you find it interesting enough to add your thoughts and ideas, and how we all can continue to grow in our blogging experience.

You might be wondering ( for newer bloggers) why do I care about Alexa Rank?  The higher your rank the more advertisers will seek you out and the more money your blog has the potential to make. Capisce?

And lets face it who doesn’t want to see that huge number drop to a much smaller number.

So here are some tips to increase your Alex Rank significantly. You may be doing some or none at all but either way this will help you if you apply them.

1. Comment on new blogs. Don’t forget mine but AFTER then comment on new blogs. OK you know I”m joking. Well maybe a little joking and half serious. Anyhoo find new blogs.  How? Use Google Alerts and focus keywords to find blogs within your niche.  I’ll say more about niche in another article.

You can set up Google Alerts Here http://www.google.com/alerts

In the search query box for example you can type DIY Crafts, mom bloggers, blog tips, mother of twins, you know basically anything that focuses on what your write about and you will find related blogs.

2. Update your blog regularly.  I’m struggling with this because of several guest posts due, launching my new WordPress site and Matilda has been really challenging lately and needs my attention and lot of it.  BUT if you will update your blog regularly not only will you see results in as little as a few weeks it’s also good for SEO.  I would discuss SEO with you but it would make my eyeballs fall out and since I need them to finish this post, enough said about SEO.

3. Download the Alexa Toolbar  here http://www.alexa.com/toolbar   I admit I haven’t tried this little gem yet I will after I make my WordPress move but it’s easy if you’d like to try it.

4. Build the Alexa Traffic Widgets on your site.  http://www.alexa.com/siteowners/widgets

5. Use social media . It plays an enormous role in your blog rankings. I seem to see the best results from Google+, Facebook, Twitter, Dig & StumbleUpon.

6. Do Keyword Search on each blog post you make and it will have a major effect on ranking.  You can try Google Keyword Tool here Google Keyword Tool  If you don’t know what that is, don’t worry I’ll post about that too but you can always Google your questions.

And there you have it 6 great tips to get you on your way!  If you liked this post You can subscribe to my GET FAMOUS newsletter by adding your email to receive your free report and more cool tips.

In case your wondering where I”m at remember I was over 2 million just a few weeks ago and now ? Not bad for a brand new blog and only a few weeks from over 2 mil.

  1. Hi Lisa,
These are excellent tips for improving your Alexa rank, I`m glad you shared them with everyone else, can`t keep it a secrete lol. It was quite an amazing jump in your Alexa rank so I just had to know and I agree, I`ve only done some of those tips, working my way through the others and already my Alexa rank has gone down 200,000, I was quite happy about that not in the millions now but in the 500,000s and I think will keep going down yahooo! Thanks for always sharing such great tipe and being so generous! I`m with you on the blogging schedule and my daughter is 10 but I remember so clearly the challenges as Sian I swore never napped and would sleep until 5am and that was it. I`m still trying to figure out a schedule, being at home and working from is so different (and wonderful) but it`s definitely challenging to have a schedule. My next goal is get back to some great content. BTW love the new WordPress look, I`m thinking of moving to wordpress myself :)

  2. Michelle! That is so awesome for you I’m excited your rank is so low :) ))
